Get Over Your Fear Of Alternate Tunings!

Chances are that a lot of your favorite songs were originally done with an alternate tuning. There are three things that will make alternate guitar tuning
easier and more fun and exciting.
First, a good digital electronic tuner is essential unless you already have perfect pitch or good relative pitch ability.
Second, a heavier gauge set of strings may eliminate string buzz on the frets, and -
Third, a comfortable glass or metal slide will give even simple riffs an extra kick.

Here are some common alternate tunings.

Guitar tunings are shown from lowest to highest note (chin to floor).

OPEN E:
E-B-E-A-B-E

OPEN A:
E-A-E-A-C#-E

OPEN G:
D-G-D-G-B-D (thanks Keef!)

OPEN D:
D-A-D-F#-A-D (Vestapol)

DROP D:
D-B-E-A-B-E

DOUBLE DROP D:
D-B-E-A-B-D

DADGAD:
D-A-D-G-A-D (duh!)
